and the Golden Carton Goes to ... Who?

My Spilt Milk Presents the New Orleans Music Awards March 3 at The Howlin' Wolf. Who should get an award?

[Updated] My Spilt Milk is now in the awards game, and tickets to My Spilt Milk's New Orleans Music Awards are on sale now. It will take place Thursday, March 3, 2016 at The Howlin' Wolf with comedian Andrew Polk as host. As an Early Bird special, they're on sale now for $15--half of what they'll be the day of the show. They'll be $15 until midnight Monday, at which point they'll jump to $25, so get yours now.

Does New Orleans need another awards show? Yes and no. OffBeat's The Best of the Beat, Gambit's Big Easy Awards and the NOLA Music Awards each honors New Orleans musicians their way, and they cover a lot of ground. But there remain artists who merit recognition who don't get it, and there are some different ways to think about awards that we're in the process of exploring. My Spilt Milk is going introduce a few new elements into the awards show idea and pick up some of the slack with its own party.

My question to you is, "Who should get an award?" A lot of familiar faces show up in other awards presentations, all for good reasons. Some of them will show up at our New Orleans Music Awards as well, but I'd like to know before we get too far down the line who you think merits award consideration of some kind after 2015. Who did something last year that we should honor? Who gets overlooked, and in that case, can you explain the injustice?

After the new year, we'll ask you to vote on awards, so this is your chance to nominate the people you think should be up for something. If you can also let us know why, that would be helpful.

We'll continue to announce news over the next few months, so keep checking this site, our Facebook page and Twitter feed. We think this is going to be a lot of fun, and we're looking forward to it.

Because of a technical glitch, tickets weren't available for much of the 48 hours. Tickets will continue to be available for $15 until midnight Monday.
