My Spilt Milk at Jazz Fest 2023

People Museum, by Greg Miles

All of our coverage of this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival sponsored by Shell, in one place.

The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival presented by Shell starts on Friday, but our coverage starts this week. This page will be our one-stop for Jazz Fest coverage with links to our previews, reviews, interviews and features related to the festival. If you look below, you’ll see our planned coverage for the next two weeks, and when a post goes live, we’ll link to it here as well.

As always, I hope to help you see acts that might not be on your radar. You already know how you feel about Lizzo, the Dead and Company, and most of the headliners, so I don’t think we need to tell you about them. We try to shine a light on the artists we think you’ll end up telling your friends about afterward. In a few cases, we’ll link back to pieces we wrote in the last year for those who missed them the first time around.

If you’re at Jazz Fest on Friday, April 28, I hope you will drop by when I interview AJ Haynes from Seratones in the Allison Miner Music Heritage Stage at 3:30 p.m. I have interviewed AJ after the release of their debut album, Get Gone, and their second album, Power. Mia Huber did the honors when they released Love & Algorhythms, and if you check them, you’ll see that a lot of interesting, insightful thought goes into Haynes’ music. I’m looking forward to the conversation and hope to see you there.
