Saturday at French Quarter Fest
Our picks for the day.
Today will be another beautiful day for the French Quarter Festival, and all the moving parts will be up and running today with entertainment on 20 stages. Today sees the addition of the BMI Songwriter Stage at the Historic New Orleans Collection, which has a pretty consistently entertaining lineup.
Today, the Old U.S. Mint's third floor theater shows films and doubles as an interview stage. At 11:30 a.m., Gwen Thompkins will talk to Alex McMurray, then at 12:30 WWNO's Fred Kasten interview Banu Gibson. At 1:30, he'll intervew Leroy Jones, and at 2:30, The Pfister Sisters. Michael Tisserand will talk to Terrance Simien at 3:30. Then 5, the film series returns with Aaron Walker's Mardi Gras Indians documentary, Bury the Hatchet.
