Photographer Steph Catsoulis shot these shows recently, and here are her highlights.

Recently, My Spilt Milk photographer Steph Catsoulis has been busy, shooting CHVRCHES last week at the Joy Theater and Lily Allen this week at the House of Blues. Here are her shots and her notes. (Click on the photos to see them in a viewer.)

Catsoulis first saw CHVRCHES at Lollapalooza this year and wanted to see how the band translated to a concert venue.

Chrvches delivered a solid performance with raw energy to the crowd. Singer Lauren Mayberry once again twirled around on stage like a pixie and headbanged whenever possible as the band impressively backed her up. The band took ’80s vibes and synth sounds and gave them new life—less cheesy and more authentic emotion. It's pop that's not sugar sweet.

Lily Allen’s debut single, “Smile,” introduced her to the world, but she’s become a tabloid fixture in England since with career ups and downs, kids, a divorce, a stalker, mental issues, and substance abuse problems.

That's is definitely one hell of a rollercoaster ride to be going through, so I wanted to see what her tour for her new record, No Shame, would be like.

Allen seemed distracted throughout the show. She did mention that her sister was in labor at time and that by the end of the show that she'd have a new member in the family. Maybe it was that, but it felt like she treated the show like it was chore that had to get done.

She remains quickly, though. She came out onto stage wearing a sheer body suit and track pants. You could see everything underneath, and this fashion statement has already made The Daily Mail in the UK. Honestly though, I thought it was awesome and values-aligned with No Shame.
