[Updated] Friday: My Spilt Milk Presents Superhumanoids, Aerial Assault, 10 p.m., The Circle Bar: The Spilt Milk Team plans for a night of dreamy synth-pop with Superhumanoids, who celebrate their latest album Exhibitionists, which is due out in a month. Also on Friday: Shamarr Allen & the Underdawgs, Corey Henry & the Treme Funktet, 10 p.m., Tipitina's (free); Mac Miller, Chance the Rapper, Vince Staples, The Internet, 10 p.m., The Howlin' Wolf (tickets); Clarence Bucaro, 10 p.m., Chickie Wah Wah

Saturday: Papa Grows Funk: The Last Jam, 10 p.m., Tipitina's: One funky era comes to an end as Papa Grows Funk says goodbye the only way a New Orleans staple should - with an epic jam session (tickets). Also on Saturday: Super Water Sympathy, Sports & Leisure, Evangelistas, 10 p.m., House of Blues' Parish (tickets).

Sunday: Weedeater, ASG, Fat Stupid Ugly People, 10 p.m., One Eyed Jacks: The veteran sludge-metal crew, headed by bassist “Dixie” Dave Collins, comes to crank amplifiers and raise a little hell Sunday night at Jacks (tickets).

Tuesday: Set and Setting, Sumerian, TBA, 10 p.m., Siberia: Shane Handal, lead guitarist for the instrumental, post-rock band Set and Setting, claims that their music “speaks for itself.”

Thursday: Fantasia, Avant, Raheem DeVaughn, 8 p.m., House of Blues: The American Idol Season 3 winner and R&B chart topper stops at HOB to debut her fourth studio album, Side Effects of You, and prepares fans for the weekend's Essence Festival (tickets).

Other Stuff:

Dave Attell, who gained fame with his Comedy Central series, Insomniac with Dave Attell, will shoot his new comedy special at four shows at One Eyed Jacks, June 28th and 29th, at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. (tickets).

Miss Pussycat, the famous New Orleans puppeteer and wife of musician Quintron celebrates her plan to make 100 new puppets in three months to display at the Contemporary Arts Center with an opening night party on Tuesday.

Paul Mooney is a man of many talents. Known for his characters, including "Negrodamus," on Comedy Central’s classic series Chappelle’s Show, as well as writing for Richard Pryor, he performs stand-up with Nature Boy on Wednesday and Red Bean on Thursday, 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. at The Howlin’ Wolf (tickets).

July 4th provides plenty of opportunities to catch great music before the fireworks. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Algiers Ferry landing, Johnny Sketch and the Dirty Notes, Egg Yolk Jubilee, and Diablo Horns perform. In the Quarter, Essence Music Festival's free Family Day Sound Stage features Biz Markie, Brass-a-Holics, Carla Ferrell, Cupid, Doug E. Fresh, Gina Brown, Mike Swift, Stooges Brass Band, Tweet, and Water Seed in Woldenberg Park from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
