Tool, The Weeknd, Arcade Fire Top Voodoo Lineup

The Halloween weekend festival returns after 2015's mud-shortened edition with a lineup more in keeping with those of Voodoos past. 

Last year's Voodoo Music + Arts Experience was a fraught one even before rain and mud forced it to end a day early. The presence of country rock artists The Zac Brown Band on the lineup and Deadmau5 as a festival closer seemed to be a sign that a festival that began 18 years ago as an alternative rock event had lost its way.  

Today, Voodoo  announced 2016’s lineup, one more in keeping with Voodoo's past. Tool, Arcade Fire, and The Weeknd top the bill when Voodoo returns October 28-30, and the lineup will also include G-Eazy, The Chainsmokers, Band Of Horses, Cage the Elephant, Kevin Gates, Die Antwoord, Foals, Porter Robinson, Carnage, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Reignwolf, Melanie Martinez, Wild Belle, Bully, The Claypool Lennon Delirium (with Sean Lennon), Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Excision, STS9, DJ Mustard, Party Favor, Lunice and more. More than 70 bands will perform on four stages over the course of the weekend. 

This year’s Voodoo will be the first since Voodoo parted ways with its founder, Stephen Rehage. Rehage sold a majority share of the festival to Live Nation in 2013 when he took a position with Live Nation’s festival division. On January 12, Live Nation and Rehage went different directions, and Voodoo is now being booked and overseen by C3 Presents, which also operates ACL Festival in Austin and Lollapalooza in Chicago.
