Win Tickets to See Foxygen

My Spilt Milk presents Foxygen and Dub Thompson Monday at One Eyed Jacks, and we have tickets to give away.

Foxygen is throwback to the ‘70s and heyday of rock stars in many of the best ways. Jonathan Rado and Sam France are unafraid to embrace the crazy ambition implied by putting out rock ’n’ roll music. Their 2012 album underlined that with its unassuming title, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, and last October they announced not their next album but their next three albums—Foxygen … & Star Power, Hang (an orchestral album), and the ‘80s-influence Nightmare Man

It’s easy to be suspicious of such long range planning from a rock ’n’ roll band, but Foxygen … & Star Power is due out October 14 and the initial reports indicate that it will really be the sprawling mix that they promised. The first two releases from it suggest its range, from the sweet glam of “How Can You Really” to the squalling, psychedelic folk of “Cosmic Vibrations.”

My Spilt Milk presents Foxygen at One Eyed Jacks September 29 with Dub Thompson opening, and we have a pair of tickets to give away to the show. Register here for a chance to win. The contest closes Saturday at noon.
